He died March 22, 1952 in Beppu, Japan from injuries sustained in Korea. At death, Lee had the rank of Sergeant First Class and served as jump master with the 4th Airborne Rangers attached to the 187th Combat Batalion. Lee was buried at Sunset Cemetery, Manhattan, Kansas with military honors.
